This craftsman bungalow located in the historic Forest Park neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama charm stopped at the footprint of the house. The client approached us to rethink his exterior spaces with 1 goal, eliminate all lawn. Simple reorganization of the exterior flow and gathering spaces expressed in natural stone and /or wood provided an organic structure whose leftover spaces were fitted with a tapestry of perennials and ornamental grasses. The garden won a Merit Award for design from the Alabama Chapter of the ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects).
